The Jupiter Deluxe - The Jupiter Deluxe

The Jupiter Deluxe are one of those bands that are hard to place, what can be said though is that their music is firmly rooted in rock, different songs have different sounds and this EP is almost a tribute to some of the greats itself, spanning in styles from 60s pop (read: Beatles), to 70s glam through to hard rock through to more contemporary music from the UK.

They certainly aren’t doing what a lot of the bands in the New York scene are up to at the moment, the vocals are catchy and easy to sing a long with but might be seen as a little bit to straight-forward to some people. If I were to criticise this at all, I’d say it’s the band rather dull look but this isn’t going to effect your CD listening. Whilst they clearly value Faceplant as one of their best songs, my personal favourite is the in your face rocky track that is Koreatown which is relentlessly fun from the first chord.

I also think they do an excellent cover version of Ray Charles’ “I got a woman”, this is just a 5 track EP, so we’re yet to see whether the band can take their tightness through to an album and make more good songs but I think they can and it’s definitely a band worth keeping an eye on.
